Troubleshooting

Restart or factory reset a TV or speaker?

Find the full model code before looking up a reset sequence. Similar-looking products can use different buttons, menus and confirmation steps. Start with the problem you want to solve and the settings you are prepared to change.

Work through these checks

  1. Identify the original fault

Write down the app or source, selected speaker and the symptom. A reset is difficult to evaluate if you test a different source afterwards. Keep the same programme available for the final comparison.

  2. Start with the normal restart

Use the restart or power instructions for your exact model and allow it to finish starting up. Let any firmware update finish first. Retest the original programme before proceeding to settings that erase information.

  3. Read the scope of a settings reset

A sound reset can affect a smaller set of choices than a full factory reset. Samsung documents a separate Reset Sound option on supported TVs. Record the options shown on your own device before confirming anything.

  4. Check the manufacturer’s reason for factory reset

Saved settings, accounts or pairings may be erased. Sonos advises against factory reset as routine troubleshooting and describes separate use cases such as an ownership transfer. Follow the procedure and warnings for your exact product.
