Troubleshooting

TV or soundbar sound keeps cutting out

Keep a note of when the sound disappears. An interruption at the same instant in a recording and an interruption at random times give you different clues. Repeat one test before changing the setup.

Work through these checks

  1. Replay the same minute

Replay the affected section and then another programme. If the fault stays at the same moment in one title, compare another audio track or app. If it moves, continue with the connection checks.

  2. Compare with the TV speakers

Use the TV’s own speakers for the same source. Dropouts there point you towards the TV or source. If the TV speakers stay stable, concentrate on the external speaker and its connection.

  3. Check the connection

With a cable, switch off the devices before reseating it in the same sockets and inspect it for damage or tight bends. Try a known working compatible cable if available. With Bluetooth, compare at a shorter distance.

  4. Compare format and software

Test Stereo/PCM after noting the previous format. If this stops the interruptions, report both results to the manufacturer. Check model-specific software updates and allow any running update to finish before restarting.
