Troubleshooting
Soundbar has no sound over HDMI ARC or eARC
A cable fitting into an HDMI socket does not establish that it supports TV audio return. Start with the labels on both ends, then test the TV’s built-in app so that an external player is not part of the first check.
Work through these checks
Match both audio-return sockets
Use the TV socket marked ARC or eARC and the soundbar’s HDMI OUT marked for TV/ARC/eARC. Confirm support on both models. A soundbar HDMI IN is normally intended for a player feeding the soundbar.
Select the audio path
Select the external audio system in the TV sound output menu and the TV input on the soundbar. For ARC, check HDMI control/CEC in both manuals. Enable the appropriate ARC/eARC option when the model requires it.
Test one simple setup
Keep only the TV and soundbar connected for this comparison. Test a built-in TV app. If you have another compatible, working HDMI cable, try it in the same sockets with both devices switched off while changing cables.
Compare the audio format
Note the current output format, then test Stereo/PCM if offered. If it works, compare the original format with the formats both devices support. Restore the format you want once compatibility is confirmed.
What did you find?
- A TV app works, the console does not
- Check the console’s audio format and its connection path.
- Neither device supports audio return
- Look for another shared connection in both model specifications.
