Start with these checks
Check where the music is playing
Start a familiar music track. Check that the correct speaker or room is selected in the app. Cancel mute and raise the source and speaker volume a little where those controls are available.
Can you hear it now? Try the same track from the source that was originally silent.
If the speaker is missing from the app
Check power. When using Sonos over Wi-Fi, check that your phone is on the correct Wi-Fi network. If the network name or password changed, follow Sonos instructions for a new network.
Does the product reappear? Select it and replay the track before changing more settings.
If you are using Bluetooth
First confirm that your exact model supports Bluetooth playback. Select the speaker as the phone’s audio output and try it nearby. Use the model’s pairing instructions if it is not connected.
Does another compatible phone work? Return to the audio output, app and pairing on the first phone.
Compare another track
Try another track and, if available, another music service. For Wi-Fi interruptions, check the network connection. For Bluetooth, compare at a shorter distance.
Is only one service silent? Continue with that service. If every source is silent, share the results with manufacturer support.
Restart or reset?
A normal restart and a factory reset are different actions. Follow the model’s restart instructions and replay the same source. Wait for any software update to finish before disconnecting power.
Sonos advises against a factory reset for routine troubleshooting. The separate reset instructions here are for fresh setup or ownership transfer and erase saved information. Use restart and support for a persistent sound problem.
If the problem remains
Note the full model code, purchase country, selected source and input, cable type and which checks produced sound. Include any error message or indicator pattern. Manufacturer support can then continue from your results.
Sources for the general checks
The checks above draw on manufacturer troubleshooting guidance. Use only connections and features present on your model; exact menus and reset sequences require that model’s own instructions.
Restart for sound problems
Disconnect power. Wait 10 seconds before reconnecting it. Give the speaker a minute to start.
