Troubleshooting
TV has a black screen but sound still works
First check whether the TV can display its own menu. This separates a missing picture from a connected player from a screen that also fails to show the TV’s own controls.
Work through these checks
Open Home or Settings
Press the normal Home or Settings button. If the menu appears, select the input you actually use. If nothing appears, note whether the TV responds to its own physical controls.
Compare an app and an HDMI device
If menus are visible, try an app built into the TV and then the connected player. A working app narrows the investigation to the external input, cable or player. Check that the player is powered on and on the expected input.
Check an accessible HDMI connection
Switch off the devices before reconnecting an accessible cable. Compare another working compatible cable or player if available. Follow the model’s restart instructions and keep power connected during updates.
Record what the screen can display
Tell support whether menus, a start-up logo or any input produce a picture. Include the model code and indicator-light behaviour. Arrange service if the screen remains blank after the manufacturer’s basic checks. Leave internal repairs to a technician.
What did you find?
- Menus and TV apps display normally
- Concentrate on the external source, input and cable.
- No TV menu appears
- Continue with the manufacturer’s screen or power diagnostics.
Find instructions for your model
Menu names, ports and reset procedures vary. Use the full model code and country of purchase to choose the matching guide and manufacturer documentation.
